New Research from the American Diabetes Association

New Research from the American Diabetes Association shows: “A Variety of Fruits, Vegetables Linked to Lower Diabetes Risk”.  The study states “Consuming greater quantity of vegetables, but not fruit, linked with reduced risk of type 2 diabetes”.  The full research abstract is available at http://care.diabetesjournals.org/content/early/2012/03/30/dc11-2388.abstract

Blog note: Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in America.  In 1950, there were 1.7 million diabetics in the USA.  In 2010, there were over 25.8 million diabetics.  The total US population was 152 million in 1950 and 309 million in 2010.  That means our diabetes rate is growing almost eight times faster than our population.

Yikes.
